Why Reusable Bags?
Every little bit counts and every time you bring your own bag you are saving hundreds of plastic bags from landfills, roadsides and waterways. The EPA estimates that 380 billion plastic bags, sacks and wraps are consumed in the US each year. And, it is estimated that nearly one third of those are plastic grocery bags. Globally, we consume 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags - or about 1 million per minute.*

Bringing your own bag is a small way to make a big difference - choose to re-use with a Smart Tote.

Green Tips
Buy locally grown produce whenever possible. Fix sprinkler systems so they don't leak and adjust them so they don't spray on driveways and sidewalks. Unplug electronic devices including cell phone chargers when they aren't in use. Buy in bulk, as this can dramatically cut down on the amount of packaging and garbage generated by each purchase. Switch to high-efficiency light bulbs. Reduce paper use by making two-sided copies and printing only the pages you need, not the entire document. Take your car to a carwash instead of washing it at home. Keep your car tires filled to the recommended levels. Use a reusable water bottle instead of plastic. Take shorter showers. Use reusable plastic containers instead of plastic baggies. Bring your own coffee mug instead of taking a paper one at your favorite coffee house. Collect and recycle items that can't be put in your curbside recycling container - such as CD's, electronics and paint. Use a "carbon footprint" calculator to take a closer look at your ecological impact. Bring your own bag to the grocery store. *Reusable Bags
